Dear concerned reader,

The "Dark Ride and Funhouse Historical Society" was created as an organization dedicated to the research and preservation of these classic, yet sadly forgotten rides. While we applaud the efforts of those who promote the documentation of Roller Coasters and Carousels, we are also very dismayed at the lack of any such effort on Dark Rides and Funhouses. Hopefully this organization will change that.

Our goals include documentation of every ride ever built, preservation of the few classic and historic rides left, and to bring about a better understanding and education of how so very talented the designers and artists of these rides truly were. We do not in any way consider ourselves as experts on this topic, but do consider ourselves to have a great passion and even greater understanding of how difficult it is to get material on this subject. We accept articles, photos and memories on any ride on a submission style basis and highly encourage you to share with the world your own collection, just as we have un-selfishly have.

You may only use any part of this website and the information contained within with the expressed written consent of the editor, so please ask nicely. And if you can find it in your heart to share with the world another part of a much bigger puzzle, what happened to so many rides, long gone, please do. If you have ever gotten lost in a Mirror Maze, tried to do a Hand Stand in a Revolving Barrel, felt sheer terror as a child walking past a "Laffin’ Sal" or have longed to smell the grease and see the sparks on the track of a neat, old, heavy Pretzel car, you have found a new "Home". This website will continue to grow in content because of the enthusiasm and dedication of so many people who truly give a Damn!

I could not have done this without each and every one of you.
