What you will need:
  • 2 pieces of 3/4 plywood or foam
  • letters or a face of some sort
  • 18 9/16 wooden buttons (hole covers)
  • Gray paint
  • Black paint
  • 2 clamp on light with colored bulbs.

These are pretty easy to concoct and a very good attention getters.

First fold a piece of paper(as big as your piece of wood) in half then draw and cut out 1 side of your plague. When you open it you'll have a full pattern for your plaque. Now place your pattern on the wood and cut it out.

Now router the sides of the wood and drill holes for the buttons. The next step is to center your letters and trace the outsides. Now cut a strip out of the center of the lettering outline. Make sure you don't cut out the entire center, since you will need to have a means of mounting the letters to the plaque. This hole will allow the light to pass through and will allow the edges of your lettering to glow and be noticed.

To mount the letters, first place a piece of wood or metal under your letters to create a even gap between the letters and the plaque. Now screw or nail the letters into the plaque.

Now paint the plaque and letters, add the clamp light behind the plaque and mount them to your cemetery fence columns. If you can mount the light top the column, then leave a gap between the plaque and the column and this will allow an eerie glow around the plaque as well as the letters.

You're ready to go.
