What you will need:

  • 1 Piece of plywood
  • 1 miniature fountain pump
  • 4 feet of 1/2 tubing
  • Wall hanging planter
  • 1 foot of 4in PVC pipe
  • Piece of 1/8" clear or colored plexi glass
  • light socket with red bulb
  • Spray foam
  • Skeleton heads
  • granite paint
  • silicon caulk
  • misc. tools and supplies

A skull fountain is a perfect addition to any haunt. Not only can you dress up any wall, but the sound of water adds an eerie sound to your haunted attraction.

The first thing you will need to do after purchasing all of the items is lay the light and wall planter on your plywood. You want the light to shine up thorough the bottom of the planter, so allow room on the plywood to accept the light. Once that is done, draw then cut out the main shape of your fountain on the plywood along with a hole for accessing the lightbulb. The next step is to cut a hole in the bottom of the planter, so the light can illuminate the water. Once that is done, cut the plexi glass so it fits inside the planter right above the hole(Approx. 1/4"). Now seal the plexiglass with silicon. Once the silicon sets up, drill another hole in the planter for the pumps power cord. Drill the hole just above the back lip of the planter and run the power cord through the hole. Seal the hole with silicon and once the silicon is dry you are ready to mount the planter and light to the plywood. Make sure the light does not come into contact with anything or you may be in risk of melting the planter or starting a fire on the plywood.

Once the plywood is cut into shape and a mounting hole is cut in the back you are ready to heat up a piece of 4" PVC pipe so that the light can be removed. Screw in the PVC and then mount the planter. Now mount the light into the PVC housing and run all of the tubing and electrical wires. Once you cover the fountain in foam the wires will no longer be accessible, so get your connections right the first time. Now mount the skulls and run the tubing from the fountain pump into the top skulls mouth. Once your skulls are in place you are ready to cover the planter, PVC, skulls and remaining plywood with spray foam. If your happy with how your fountain looks, your ready to paint. Make sure that once the paint is dry you seal the entire fountain with exterior varathane, since the granite paint is not suited for getting wet.

Now that everything is dry your ready to get it wet. Mount the fountain to a wall, fill it with water and plug it in. Adjust the water flow and your ready to go.
