These images show the Pilgrimess (Xantha Radley) who was accused of witchcraftand , she was sentenced to die from exposure and the abuse of her fellow townspeople. In the afterlife, she is permanently locked in wooden stocks. Her gnarled, wrinkled face was created by means of a weathered-flesh piece and further accented by opaque contact lenses, which give her a milky, sightless look.
Charles Porlier is shown here turning Xantha into the Pilgimess: he described
the makeup as a fast,
simple slip-latex one piece 'mask' appliance - sort of a spur of the moment
makeup that Steve Beck (director) liked. Unfortunately I've been unable
to find a before image of Xantha but it must be pretty different!
Howard Berger (KNB EFX) and Charles Porlier were Prosthetics Key SPFX Make-Up on the movie: the more complex ghosts required a team of six make-up artists, working three to four hours on each ghost. I plan to include some of the other ghosts: the Bound Woman; the Withered Lover; the Angry Princess; and the Dire Mother.
