The guardian of darkness game

This is the game we played at our 1998 Halloween party. It combines ideas from several different games. Thanks to everyone who helped work out the details. The game went on for nearly 4 hours, our guests had a great time...

Here's how to play

Each guest is given a Guardian Stone to wear around their neck when they first arrive. This must be worn for protection from the "Soul of DarknessÓ while at the party. The host possesses all of the stones to be given out upon arrival over the course of the game. Players can take a stone from another guest or the host by getting them to say the word "NO". If a guest or the host says the word "NO" they must give up a stone, go to the alter of darkness and light a candle Ïpraying for protectionÓ. Unless you possessed more than one stone you must continue trying to obtain another. The more stones possessed the greater the protection. One player will be wearing a ÏBlack CrystalÓ the most powerful force of evil and highest rank. If you possess this crystal you are the ÏSoul of Darkness". Your ONLY goal is to come across unprotected souls in your travels NOT possessing any guardian stones. When you find an unprotected soul touch them ÏCASTING THEM OUTÓ, no longer being able to receive stones! If a player with a stone can get the Black Crystal from its owner by having them say the word "NO" the two must switch and the power is exchanged. The player losing the crystal must light a candle and continue on. The player possessing the Black Crystal when the game is CALLED will receive the Sacrificial Offerings!

May the Guardian Of Darkness protect you all!

Hint: There are stones within the shadows FREE for the taking if they are found!

We had these rules printed on backlit picture frames for our guests to read after they where given their stone. The stones where made from air dry clay in the shape of little shrunken heads on a gold cord necklace. the crystal was made from clay also and shaped like a twisted spike. The alter of darkness consisted of three plaster skulls and 50 tea light candles in baby food jars in a back room. The sacrificial offering can be anything you choose!
