Hacker House Operations Information
Here's a quick reference of our Operating Guidelines.
Please read them, and follow them!

- Stay in Character at all times.
- Stay an arms length away from customers - if possible.
- Memorize house floorplan and exits.
- Learn emergency plans and locations of fire extinguishers.
- Look for guests who need help.
- ONLY drop character when helping a guest in an emergency.
- Report dangerous guests immediately.
- Work with other actors in your area.
- Get permission from Cast Leader to change assignments.
- If needed, arrive early for makeup and wardrobe.
Things to Don't . . .

In an Emergency . . .
- Remain calm and in control.
- Notify Safety Manager IMMEDIATELY !
- If the Emergency System is activated, evacuate guests immediately,
THEN go to designated assembly area.
- Never announce a problem to guests, blame everything on "Technical
Difficulties"
Dress:
- !! Black Clothes and and Shoes are
REQUIRED !!
Wear comfortable, (warm!) casual dress. No visible logos or pictures.
Long sleeve shirts preferred. No shorts (too cold!). Avoid
jeans (they glow under blacklight!). Plan to dress warmly, October
nights do get chilly! Dressing in layers is best to keep yourself
comfortable. Remember, your position may be inside, or outside,
or both!
- A great source for inexpensive clothing is yard sales, the
Goodwill, or Salvation Army stores. Remember, all you need is
simple black clothing, it will be covered over with your costume!
No Shows:
- Each Cast Member is important to our success!
Each and every position is crucial to the show and
must be staffed every night. If you can not attend on a night
you have signed up, you must arrange for a replacement to work
in your place. A replacement must be a trained Cast Member. We
must be notified of any staff changes no less than 6 hours before
opening. If a Cast Member is a "no show" with no alternate
arrangements, accumulated pay is reduced by half, and
all bonuses are forfeited.
- When you sign up for the season, be sure you can work the
nights you tell us. Our staff schedule is built from your requests,
and we depend on you knowing what nights you can be in the Cast.
- Each position has special needs. A missing Cast Member may
cause several positions to change at the last minute, causing
a lot of frustration for Hacker House Cast Members who will have
to cover for the missing person, and may keep our guests from
getting the best show possible.
